The DAX also known as the Deutscher Aktienindex was founded in July 1988.
It is a German market stock index which consists of the top 30 blue chip companies which trade on the Frankfurt stock exchange. consisting of the 30 major German companies trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The DAX is a performance indicator of German companies by way of order book volume and market capitalisation. It draws comparisons with the British FT30 and the US DOW. It must be noted that as it only contains the top 30 German blue stocks it is not necessarily an indicator of a strong German Economy.
As you can see from the chart above the DAX has been in a significant up trend since its inception and really took off in late 2014 when it broke the 8000 mark. Over recent weeks the DAX has made all time highs around 13000. Will this rampaging move to the upside continue or is a market crash looming?
